Is Your Plane Crashing?

When riding on an airplane, they teach us to put the oxygen mask on ourselves first before helping anyone else. Why is that? Oh…so we can better serve others around us. How many of us have forgotten to put on our oxygen mask of life? It makes us better mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, employers, employees, and better people overall. It makes us healthier and happier. What does an oxygen mask in real life look like? Coming up on Mother’s Day it is important to realize the benefit of balance and self-care. As mom's we tend to put everyone’s needs ahead of our own leaving us with little to no oxygen (balance).

It is very difficult in a fast-paced society where we are taught that our kids should be in every activity starting from the age three and up. What happened to neighborhood kick-the-can, backyard football, family dinner time around the table with no interruptions?  Reclaiming your balance begins with choosing when to say “yes” and when to say “no”. Protecting your time is the first step in increasing your balance. Family ideas for deeper connections and balance are; give your spouse overnights at home alone without the kids, have family game night (board games), ask each other the daily high and low. And as always, make sure you have proper rest, nutrition, exercise, vitamins, and Chiropractic Care.

Why is chiropractic care essential? It reduces chronic pain, helps us be healthier and stronger, helps us sleep better, helps us focus better, helps us have more energy, and helps us function better. Our brain controls all of our functions with important communication to the body through nerves. If we are under stress our connection can be interfered with, decreasing our function. Stress come in the form of chemical (what we absorb, eat/drink, and inhale), physical (the way we sit, sleep, slip or fall, improper lifting…) and emotional (cortisol hormone is released in damaging amounts). So, with all the stress, chiropractic care corrects misalignments in the spine called subluxations helping increase function, lessen pain, and decrease interference in the body’s communication.

The first step to having your oxygen mask on is to seek quality chiropractic care, eat healthy, drink plenty of water, get good rest, and exercise 30 minutes each day. Learn the art of saying, “no” to more than you can juggle and “yes” to better balance in your life. Happy Mother’s Day and may we offer you hope, improve health, and create wellness in your life.
